Yeah, that’ll work just fine. Make sure you know where your audio out is as some monitors do not have built in speakers.

I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to. I have mine connected to my television with an hdmi and it works great. It works a lot better than the dock that originally came with my switch. My original Nintendo switch dock would have black lines across the entire screen and there was no way to fix it. I took great care of it and it still began to do this. This new dock works great, and there are no screen issues. As long as your monitor has normal hdmi capabilities, I don’t see any reason why this dock wouldn’t work great for you. I recommend this dock, it works great.

If I'm following what you're saying that should be no different than hooking it to a flat screen with HDMI. So yes, I had mine hooked to a monitor and felt that I was missing out on the hybrid experience by using a smaller monitor instead of a big screen.
