It is wireless in the fact that you do not need to run a wire from your audio receiver to your rear speakers Your rear speakers would need to be wired into the Rocketfish receiver unit for them to work as it will receive the wireless transmission from the transmitter unit that is connected to the rear speaker terminals of your audio receiver. As your rear speakers are to be some distance apart, you would just need additional speaker wire to cover the distance between the Rocketfish receiver And your rear speakers.

In my case it let me get my surround sound to the back wall with out wires running across the room . Works very well for my situation. There are no truly wireless speakers they still need power.
