Yes, you still need to run speaker wires from each speaker to the receiver. Not ideal, if you don’t have a way to hide the wires behind a couch/chair. But these worked perfectly for me for what I was needing to accomplish. No wires running from my entertainment center across my floor to rear speakers. Was able to plug receiver into the wall, connect speaker wires from speaker to receiver and hide that behind my couch.

The Amphony 1700 Wireless Speaker Kit with two Wireless Amplifiers (New Model), Wireless, 2x80 Watts, 300ft range, puts out more power but I had ground problems with two of the receivers, and there was a constant hum. I use this unit more for background ambiance than true surround sound as it is very limited in power (~ 10 watts/channel). Hope this helps
