It will turn your non smart tv into a smart tv. I'm not sure what you mean by everything works together, Dish network doesn't have an app on the Roku, but you can use your login to get hbo, starz, showtime, etc. Just check on the dish network site for the details.

I have not yet completely cut the cord, so I have my Direct TV connected to my HDMI 1, and my Roku stick connected to my HDMI 2. I just switch between the two ports to change from watching my ROKU channels and my Direct TV channels. Hope this helps.
