Remove batteries from remote. Plug Stick into hdmi port, turn on tv and set to correct hdmi port. When Roku appears on screen replace batteries in remote and point at tv. Follow onscreen instructions. You activate device at roku.com/link.

It should have come with an adapter that accepts the USB end, so that it can plug into a wall. I was hoping my tv would be able to power it, but it isn't enough for the ROKU. Also, make sure the tv is on the right input for the ROKU. Your tv remote should have a button called Source, or Input, or something similar. Then, it should just show up on your screen. There will be a number of steps that it walks you through before it's completely ready. You will need a computer (or phone or tablet) with internet access in order to register it as you go through the steps also. It will give you a code you have to enter at the ROKU website.
