No there is not. However there are some apps that may have a monthly charge. I only use free apps and have plenty to watch. If you are a Spectrum customer, there is a free app to watch your Spectrum channels. I wish they had that for ATT Uverse.

No. Roku account is only charged for premium channels, movies etc.

There is no monthly charge just for the device. You do need to create an account to manage the device but it is free. Some of the apps within the Roku may have a recurring subscription charge paid through Roku or the app company (e.g. HBO). If you don't use these apps there is no charge.
