You can get a Roku streaming stick and take advantage of all the free apps out there for tv. If you want premium channels, you can subscribe to the ones you like through their service. Also, Roku has their own channel that has a variety of programming. So yes, I would compare them to any of the major cable companies including spectrum.

Compatible? Yes. I use Spectrum daily on this Roku. Comparable? Depends on your needs. You can access all the same channels on Roku through the Spectrum app that you can on a Spectrum set top box. Roku does not offer DVR however.

Yes, we use our Roku stick to watch the Spectrum streaming service. We had the Amazon Firestick, but that was not compatible with receiving Spectrum's streaming service. As a separate issue I was irate with Spectrum because they were reluctant to come right out and tell us so.
