Hi Maymarti, We are glad to provide answers to your question about this Samsung microwave model. This microwave model has three ventilation types and I have listed them below. 1. OUTSIDE TOP EXHAUST (VERTICAL DUCT). 2. RECIRCULATING (NON-VENTED DUCTLESS). 3. OUTSIDE BACK EXHAUST (HORIZONTAL DUCT). The microwave is capable of having an exhaust through its back or top via/through the cabinet or it can be set up to recirculate the air. Leo
