Can it be used without a cabinet? null

It is made to mount under cabinets. Because of the venting system on it I would not recommend any other use. I would look for a free standing microwave if looking for something else.

Yes, you can use it on a countertop, but why would you? You can buy a countertop microwave oven for much less money, that will doo the same job, and take up less space than an over-the-range unit. You would also be paying for the vent fan mechanism, which you can't use if it sits on a countertop.

I guess it could, but the lights and exhaust at the bottom will be hindered.

No, If you set it on the counter you’ll be blocking the air vent and light that is made for over the stove
