DOES THIS SOUNDBAR NEED AN AMP null

No it has an onboard signal processor for optical inputs and analog amp for processed optical and all other inputs!! You can influence the level via input level, but it's not linear.

I feel for the price the sound quality with the sub is amazing and there is no need for an amp.
