I have the same problem. It's an issue with ice freezing up behind the panel and the fan hitting it when it runs. (The fan doesn't run when the door is opened, which is why you don't hear it then.) You have to manually defrost it with a blow dryer (there are tutorials on YouTube). There's a class-action lawsuit filed against Samsung for this, but Samsung doesn't appear to fix these problems (per my conversation with their customer service today, April 27, 2020) if it's not under warranty. Tons of people have had this problem, and the new machines still have this issue. I'm sorry. I wish I could give you better news. I'm currently having to defrost mine every 2-3 weeks, even though it never happened in the three years prior. I'll never buy Samsung again.
