“Buttons hidden--what if I need to stop mid-cycle? I see that there is a way to interrupt the cycle and drain the machine, but because the buttons are all on top of the door, how are you supposed to access them? Is it really okay to open the door mid-cycle? I'm hoping I never need to do this, but would like to know ahead of time. If I have the installer come back and lower the whole unit, I might be able to squeeze a finger between the counter and the buttons. Is this the way it should be installed?”

If the door is opened while the dishwasher is running, a safety mechanism is activated and stops the cycle, which will resume where it left off if the door is closed again after a short time.
