We did a kitchen remodel with LG appliances and after reading how bad their dishwashers were, we decided on this Samsung. I got it on sale plus an additional 15% off for buying 4 or more appliances so it was a great deal. It looks nice, the touch controls are sensitive in the way you do have to touch them just right for them to operate. We use the Smart Auto feature which automatically decides how to wash the dishes, makes it effortless. The racks inside are different than our old Kenmore, its a different design and takes some "figuring out" to arrange properly. I'm not going to give it a bad review just because the racks require me to get creative with my dishes placement, everyone will do it differently. They are light and require minimal effort to slide in and out which is nice. Yep, it's stainless steel and will show finger prints, just keep it clean and it looks great. We always rinse our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and with a rinse aid our dishes have come out spotless. If you leave food on your plates and put them in the dishwasher then this unit probably isn't for you. It doesn't have a food grinder at the base so it won't handle chunks of food well I suspect. If you need something to power wash off chunks of food you will need the more expensive models. Oh, one reviewer mentioned the silverwear holder and his silverwear not fitting. The manual shows you a way to arrange the silverwear so that the spoons, forks and knives fit into a slot individually (handles down) versus the old just throw them in the basket approach. I have done it both ways and still prefer to just throw them in. One, because I rinse them off before so it shouldn't take much to clean them and two, when they are clean who wants to touch the eating end of the silverwear when you have to remove them and put them away? It's merely an example of a different way to wash them, that's all and really shouldn't be considered a negative. For the money, this unit is pretty good in my opinion. Our dishes are clean, looks great and it definitely is extremely quiet! Good luck!

I installed myself, anyone a little handy who has tools can do this. I was AMAZED at how quiet the dishwasher is! You can't tell it is running unless you are right next to it. As other reviews stated, you almost have to look at the lights to tell if it is running. Stainless interior, energy star rated, super quiet. A few other notes: Front panel is white, but the top of the door where the controls are is black. This shows a bit how I have it installed under my counter. We have had the soap dispenser fail to open a few times because we loaded something to close to the front of the bottom rack. When the door was shut, the dispenser couldn't open. Even with Jet Dry, my dishes are a little wet still when the cycle is done. No big deal, just open the thing up and pull the racks out and they are dry in no time. None of the above are a deal breaker for me because the cleanliness of the dishes is outstanding, and the thing is quiet. Register your new Samsung product on their website and get a factory warranty extension as well!

The machine is nice and quiet. We never hear it running. The only issue we have with it is that if you are not really careful in how you load it the machine will not dispense the soap. The prongs that hold the dishes are not setup in a useable manner. If you have just a large load of cutting boards, pots and pans, mixing bowls, and dishes then the bottom rack becomes a problem and it turns into multiple loads. Nothing large can be in front of the soap dispenser which makes loading hard. If the cutting board is on its side running front to back I would not think that a problem but it is the machine considers that blocking and won't open the soap dispenser. Love the quiet, hate the way it loads and will not dispense soap every time. If I could I would have kept the old one and never got this one.

    Sleek design, but not impressed.

We bought this dishwasher a few months ago. Samsung has been an excellent brand for electronics at our home, but this dishwasher is more aesthetically appealing than its performance. It's quiet when running, has a hard-food disposer, its stainless steel interior; the hidden touch screen at the top of the door...all these are nice touches. Now the negative part: it's easy to get the brushed stainless steel door dirty; wiping it with a towel will not work, therefore you have to use a cleaning product (we use a paste) to get rid of any smudges or water spots. The cycle options are very standard (heavy, normal, light,) plus the sanitize and child-lock options. The drying system is a heated fan which has never dried our dishes; they're hot and clean when the cycle is finished, but still wet. If you open the door during the drying cycle and close it again, it will not resume. And most importantly, the bottom rack is just plain awkward; the rack 'tines' are just too close together for cereal bowls. No more room for my review.

While it does a so so cleaning job, goop from dirty dishes accumulates under the door and the stench is disgusting! I wish I could bottle it and send it to the engineers that designed this thing. We called for warranty service and were told that's just how it is and there's nothing they can do. Even using the sanitize cycle is only a temporary help, not to mention a waste of energy. Stick to TV's Samsung!

We purchased our Samsung DMT400 dishwasher from Best Buy on 6/23/13. Since then I’ve tried every troubleshooting tip in the manual to get dishes clean without success. I’ve tried 4 different name brand “quality” dishwasher detergents, the rinse aid cup is filled with quality rinse aid, and I’ve tried several other commercial preparations marketed for improved removal of food particles, decreased spotting, and no white film. My water pressure is high, and my water heater is cranked to produce 150 degree water from the kitchen sink. I run water in the sink until it’s hot before starting the dishwasher. I’ve loaded dishes per the manual instructions and haven’t included aluminum pots, pans or dishes in with the loads. I’ve tried every load option, including sanitizer. I’ve even run the same load of dishes twice with the heavy load and sanitizer options. Despite all of this, dishes that were rinsed well before loading still have the same residue as when they were loaded; glasses and silverware have a milky coating. This waste of money won’t even remove a drip of coffee from the outside of a coffee cup. I've resorted to washing dishes by hand and using the bottom rack as a drainer. Unfortunately Best Buy has a 15 day return policy, else I’d be lugging this thing back to the store. Samsung has a horrible reputation for customer service, but that appears to be my only recourse at this point. Wish me luck and PLEASE DON’T BUY THIS DISHWASHER!

We purchased this unit to replace an aging dishwasher. While the washing is far superior to the old unit we had, drying is less than wonderful. However, simply popping open the washer after the "dry" mode has finished the dishes dry out rather well in an hour or so. It hasn't been a huge issue for us so we still feel it's a good unit. The unit is very quiet when running and it definitely uses less water/power.

Wife loves it. Can hardly tell it is running and when done makes a soft chiming sound. Wife jokes it is singing to her. Cleans well and far better than our old dishwasher. Occasionally leaves food that had dried and hardened on silverware. Does not dry very well so we leave the door open after the cycle for a little bit and that does the trick. Nice clean look that does not look uncluttered.

Overall we like the dishwasher. It is very quiet and looks sleek..Nice stainless tub. The only complaint is there is no heated dry like my previous dishwasher. It does get hot but not hot enough to dry dishes. When you open the door after a cycle the dishes are still wet, so I have to hand dry:( also even after I empty dishwasher and go to reload the next day or so the door still looks wet and sweaty. I only hope it doesn't mildew or mold since it stays damp/wet all the time:(

install was challenging as the power and water must be threaded through narrow channels on the bottom of the unit, and since neither came through the back of my old unit, I needed longer connections for both. Unit is very quiet when running and gets the dishes clean, but for the price, the features are very basic. No rinse and hold, no air dry, etc. Racks are a little chintzy - don't come in and out easily when loaded. but you can load a lot of dishes in there. Small feature, but I like - silverware holder has individual slots for each utensil which keeps spoons from sticking to one another an not getting clean.

Very nice looking dishwasher, extremely quiet (we keep checking to confirm that it's on!) and dishes are very clean. But, the top rack of dishes remains wet though the bottom rack is nice and dry. Not sure why that is. And my wife dislikes the placement of the handles on the silverware rack. She kept the old silverware rack from the old dishwasher and is very happy that she did.

Bought this dishwasher with concerns over some of the poor reviews it had received. Decided I should write a review on its behalf, since most reviews are from people who had issues with the dishwasher. So far everything is working great. I installed it myself, and although I wouldn't recommend everyone install a dishwasher on their own, it was very easy to install if you have some wiring, and plumbing experience. Leveling the dishwasher is easy, as it has a torx on the front that allows you to adjust the rear height easily. This dishwasher is so quiet, that I sometimes forget it is running. If it wasn't for the lights on the front to indicate where it is in the wash cycle, you might open it unexpectedly and get splashed. The features are really good on this dishwasher. The sanitize option is nice, and the automatic wash function works well. Is amazing how clean the dishes come out after having a standard dishwasher for so long.

We've had it for a few weeks and are generally pleased with it. It is very quiet and looks nice. Stainless steel interior is a plus. We're happy with the cleanliness of the dishes. Some silverware still comes out dirty, but it is usually something like peanut butter. We use the sanitize option, and mostly everything comes out dry expect for kids cups with deep rims on the bases. The only disappointment was Best Buy not being up front with installation. We thought it was getting installed, but they just dropped it off and then asked for money to install even though they would dispose for free. Make sure you discuss installation during the purchase, our sales guy never touched on it and we felt a little blind sided when the dishwasher showed up (delivery guy said this happens daily so it's obviously a general problem with the Best Buy sales process).

I have only used the dishwasher for a few weeks but my dishes have come out clean & dry so far. I use the sanitize function for every cycle. My biggest complaint is the lower rack. As some others customers have stated, once the lower rack is pulled out it always comes off the track & it can be a difficult to put it back on especially if it is loaded with dishes. I have been trying not to pull it out too far to avoid this happening but then I can't place the dishes in the rack. This is minor but can be a little irritating. The top rack can be a little challenging also for the placement of bowls. I couldn't seem to stack them properly but this morning I turned them the opposite way & they seem to stack better. No problems with installation. Very happy with Best Buy customer service, it was priced lower at Lowe's and they priced matched it for me.

I purchased the dishwasher from the deal of the day, and it was delivered quickly. It installed easy and looks very nice. I think it works well and is quiet. Unfortunetely it will not fit a cookie sheet or other large item. I also believe at this price point a delay timer should be part of the functions.

Looks great and cleans perfect. Runs so silent that you can't hear it even when standing next to it. Only complaint is that there is no heated dry, only a fan inside. Manual recommends using sanitize mode and rinse aid, which still leaves water on some of the dishes. Besides that, great product so far.

I purchased this model after discussing the options with a very knowledgeable Best Buy associate. I don't really understand the need for all of the extra features on dishwashers. You pay more for time delays, power scrubbing, etc., yet you still end up using the same basic wash cycle every time. If you're smart enough to realize this and don't want to pay for features you won't ever use, this is the dishwasher for you. My family room is connected to my open kitchen and nook, so I can hear any noise going on in there while trying to relax on the couch. However, this dishwasher has the quietest hum, so you'll never even notice that it's on. The control panel is nicely hidden away along the top of the door, so all you see on the facade is the stainless steel. Some reviewers have complained about the smell or dishes not drying fully. All you need to do is put some Jet Dry in the dispenser and run it on the sanitize setting, and you'll barely have any residual water after the cycles finish. Those reviewers simply failed to read their owners manual. My only complaint is about the spacing of the rows on the upper rack. It could be the size of our glasses, but if you don't get them wedged in the exact spot, all of the glasses end of tipping over and banging together. It's kind of annoying, but it would not keep me from buying this model again.

Loved the look as I have the fridge. It's very quiet and I can put large/tall items on the bottom. The rest is all bad...poor cleaning not even half as good as the GE profile I replaced. The buttons don't register touch very well so I waste time holding the buttons, adjusting finger position & on & on. Wish I'd stuck w GE.
