Thanks for your interest in the RF261BEAESR. The term "Auto/Cycle Defrost" is a more accurate description of what happens in a typical "frost free" freezer. When moist air enters the freezer each time the door or drawer is opened, it can form frost as it comes in contact with the freezing surfaces. A "frost free" freezer, including those in all current Samsung models, has heaters in the walls that cycle on to prevent the frost from building up, which usually does not require any manual action. Keep in mind, however, that if the air in your home is very humid, and the freezer is opened frequently allowing this air inside, frost may occasionally form on the unheated surfaces or packages.
