“Does Samsung guarantee in writing that they will support the software for as long as you own the product? The apps on my current (expensive) Samsung LCD fridge no longer work due to lack of software update from Samsung.”

• Nope. They haven't done any updates since I got the refrigerator 3 years ago. Samsung doesn't care.

• Look up Tizen...there is version 4.0 out now for your OS...they say they are committed to keeping updated
