Try it both ways and see what sounds good to you.

There is no formula for locating the best spot. And, it’s truly your personal preference. a) Position along the front wall of the room. However, too close in proximity to a flat wall can cause a harsh, rumbling, unpleasant sound. If your subwoofer is a ported design (with an opening to allow airflow), keep it twice the diameter of the port (typically 6-12 inches) away from a wall to allow airflow out of the port. Or b) Placing your subwoofer in a corner of a room can increase its output, making it sound louder. See how it sounds. Depending on your floor space, a corner might not be a viable option if it’s too far from your listening area. To find your satisfactory sound, start by turning on music or a movie that has a lot of bass. Then, sit down in a spot you think you’ll be listening to your music and movies the most. Move the subwoofer around until the sound is ideal.

Move the woofer around to what sounds best in your room. Most of the time the lettering should face out, the air port in the rear of the woofer will then reflect off the wall. But, like I said do what sounds best for your situation!
