“Will this work if we don't have an optical input in the back of TV? It's a 2015 55" Hitachi smart tv, but there are only HDMI and USB slots. we really need more sound and I want to order this, but don't know if we have the right setup for it.”

You can connect the HDMI ARC port on the TV to the HDMI Out port of the soundbar. That the best way. Its more better than Optical as HDMI passes more audio types than optical.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just got this unit and was able to sync it using Bluetooth to my Samsung TV, rather than with the optical input. If your Hitachi has bluethooth capability, it should work.

Please try again later.You can use this soundbar even if your tv doesn't have an optical port as long as you have an HD cable box.There should be an optical port on the back of the cable box so just run the optical cable from the soundbar to the back of the cable box and you will have the sound from the tv through your soundbar.

This sound bar has 1 mini jack, 1 optical digital audio, 1 micro-USB type B and 1 HDMI input, then output to HDMI. I'm afraid that without a direct sound output, such as optical digital audio out, to be able to connect to this soundbar system, you won't be able to use it.
