• Good question, Pjg! This washer does automatically lock the lid when a cycle is started, but you can pause the cycle to unlock the lid and add more items. ^Jecca

• I absolutely hate the locking lids but all washers nowadays seem to have that feature. There is a way to open lid by holding buttons down for 3 seconds.
