The machine has a container for liquid bleach only, so likely softener goes in with the clothing.

Open the washer and thee is a blue drawer that says softener and detergent. Pull that drawer and you can place your liquid detergent there. There is a max amount that can be used because the set is energy efficient it uses specific amounts for each load saving you money.
