For the channel and volume change, you don't press the button but push up or down on them. But if the "home" button or nothing else except power works then you probably have a defective remote so should exchange or return it.

I'd ask tech support about that, because the remote I got works just fine: power button, navigation circle, volume, and channel. Instructions for how to sync the remote and TV with each other are in the user guide.
