No sure about Dish, but we have AT&T Uverse and I have programmed my Uverse remote to perform many of the functions that I used before I bought our Samsung TU8000 TV. I am still working on a few functions on the Uverse remote but it does mot of the regular functions. The Samsung remote just isn't that friendly in my opinion.
