• the tv automatically does this to protect your eyes. Its in the manual

• Dark scences of any shows will look darks on the tv.Alway tvs manufactures menu settings right out of the box for brightness setting of the tv alway at 50% setting.

• I had the problem of the screen going dark for the first few days. I think it has to do with the amount of light in the room. I used the TV remote to confirm the brightness setting and the problem went away.
