Do I absolutely have to use HE detergent? I have 4 giant bottles of regular detergent that i would like to use. Would it damAge the machine?or what is the reasoning? null

I believe it's because of the low bubble (foaming) agent in HE detergent. 
You can add salt or other agents to counter.

Yes you do have to use HE detergent. I read if you don’t it will mess up your machine .
