Hi Rob! The rear speakers will wire to a transmitter base, which is then a wireless connection to the soundbar. This allows you to discretely wire the speakers behind the seating and maintain a wire free look from the rear to the front. ^Tim

ONE EXCEPTION for wires, a small wireless receiver is required near the rear speakers and an electrical outlet. NO WIRES are required from the soundbar or subwoofer to the wireless receiver. However, WIRES ARE REQUIRED from the wireless receiver to the rear speakers. The supplied wires are only about 12 feet for each speaker. With a special connection on the receiver end of the wires.
