The other answers are correct, however if you are playing a Atmos track and the blue light does not come on, then you must go into the BR players settings and select "unprocessed bitstream" in order to play a movie in Atmos. I ran across this and had to research in order to play in the Atmos format as i described,.

I was told that the blue light would come on when ATMOS was working, too! The demo in the store had a blue light that I was told (several times) should be on. I purchased 4k movies with Atmos sound and made sure that I was hooked up via HDMI with the TV's ARC and I still had no light. I haven't been able to get a straight answer from Samsung support, but loved the sound, so I just decided to live with out the "blue light". Very aggravating that I can't get a straight answer from anyone.
