Q: Questionare there any firmware updates out or coming up that will support DTS HD and DTSX someone said an update came out in Oct but I can`t find any info on it would help this system a lot I turned off PCM in my UHD player and it made a huge difference.

• A:Answer I recently bought this soundbar - k950 - and hoped for the same. I went on Samsungs chat line and was told from a tech that there were no firmware updates yet, and that chat was roughly a week ago just after thanksgiving. Research tells me that the soundbar has all of the interior workings to play the DTS, but it would require the new firmware. Apparently it was a cost issue, buying the rights from Dolby, so in order to keep the costs down - and hence sales price - Samsung has so far opted out of purchasing the rights for DTS in this soundbar - as I understand it.

• A:Answer I was just in a best buy store and the Samsung employee was honest enough to help me because my husband and I had the same question. Samsung sound bars like this one do not support DTS HD or DTS X. Star Wars, many comic book movies, Kingsman, Avengers, Jurassic World and hundreds more movies Are NOT recommended by Samsung. Samsung has the full warnings and information on their website.

Q: QuestionCan the subwoofer be used laying on its side? Alternatively, can it be setup at the rear of the room? Or, can the sound bar be setup and run without the subwoofer? New cabinet installed does not allow room for standing subwoofer at the front left.

• A:Answer I have this sound bar- the bar works without any of the remote speakers or sub connected. The sub could probably be installed on it's side but only laying not he left hand side (when looking at the speaker) the right hand side has a fabric speaker grill. The sub connects via bluetooth (I think) I'm not sure how far the range is but at least 20 feet is fine.

Q: QuestionDoes anybody have any problems on the HW-K950, like the subwoofer (or rear speakers) disconnecting itself or weird sounds like buzzing or hissing? How can you prevent this?

• A:Answer Bought this HW-K950 from best buy. Only lasted 2 yrs for over $1400 paid and out of warranty. Not only has been issues with connectivity which disconnect constantly but now absolutely won't even turns power on from base or remote. We spent over $4000 for this speaker set and TV both Samsung and TV has been acting weird, not functioning often as well. (My mother in-low spent thousands dollar for new refrigerator and had issue needed to replace as well....) Very disappointed Samsung for warranty and quality. I think I will stay away from Samsung now.

• A:Answer For me, the Samsung Atmos soundbar by itself is superior to that Bose soundbar for sound quality. The Bose subwoofer teamed with the Bose soundbar has a great sound. We watched an atmos movie with the Samsung soundbar & we thought the sound was incredible. When we listen to music we really like the Samsung soundbar. We were disappointed that the rear speakers only enhance the sound and we do not get the effect of real surround sound.

Q: QuestionI have very low sound unless turned all the way up. It was a pain to try and connect with directv. Might someone explain how to get better sound from the system? Same as Netflix I hate to pay this much only for movies to rent.

• A:Answer I had geek squad set up my sound bar & remote speakers. (not going to get good sound from the remotes if you put them on the floor. ) should be at least chair height when sitting. Make sure blue lights are on & not blinking. There is a remote control that comes with the set that the geek squad used to make the sound come out just right. You should not have to turn the sound up too high. If you do not want to go through Geek squad, you can also call Samsung for technical assistance. Your best bet, for great sound is to make an appointment with Geek squad to come to your house. I also recommend getting the insurance from Geek squad if you purchased the system from Best Buy.. This sound system works great but needs in my opinion, a pro to set up correctly.

• A:Answer The other answers are correct, however if you are playing a Atmos track and the blue light does not come on, then you must go into the BR players settings and select "unprocessed bitstream" in order to play a movie in Atmos. I ran across this and had to research in order to play in the Atmos format as i described,.

• A:Answer Yes, you need 4K Blu-ray with Dolby atmos, to get the Dolby atmos effect on Samsung HW-k950. However the speakers still give a good effect on 7.1 surround sound.
