Thanks for your interest in the NX58H9500WS, Charlie. This and other Samsung Ranges are designed to meet industry standards. Following is the related temperature information provided in the installation guide with regard to the surrounding cabinets: "This range has been designed to comply with the maximum allowable wood cabinet temperature of 194°F (90 °C). Make sure the wall covering, countertops, and cabinets around the range can withstand the heat (up to 194 °F [90 °C]) generated by the range. If not, discoloration, delamination, or melting may occur." If you're unsure whether your cabinets adhere to this standard, you may want to contact the cabinet manufacturer for confirmation. - Ms. Samsung

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The oven is designed to comply with the maximum allowable wood cabinet temperature of 194 degrees F. I would never recommend having cabinets in direct contact with the sides or back of any oven. An air space of at least 1" should be maintained. between the cabinets and the sides of the oven. This should fit in an opening of 30 inches.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not noticed the cabinets getting hot on either side of oven, I have not run the self cleaning yet.
