is the stand adjustable to fit 40" table top null

First of, the stand is not adjustable. They are screwed at the bottom of the TV. However, the distance of the stands from each other is approx. 38.75". Hope this information helps.

It will fit but you would have to be careful because the support legs are 38.25 inches apart.
