Issues less than two months old

I purchased this TV and a Samsung sound bar at the same time. It worked great for almost two months. Sound bar stopped working with TV. Called Samsung tech support and they had me preform various tests. Sent out sound bar to get repaired. Got the sound bar back and still same problem. Called tech support again. They had me preform more test. They had me send out sound bar again. The repair center found no issues with the sound bar and sent it back. Of course still didn't work. Called tech support again. Samsung tech support had me on the phone for one hour preforming all kinds of test and download. Still nothing. Samsung escalated the issue to the next group. They were supposed to get back to me in 1-2 business days. After three days I didn't hear anything from Samsung and called tech support again. The tech on the line had me do more test and of course nothing worked. So they said the next higher group of support would call me in 47 minutes. After two hours no call so I called them back again. They had no intentions of ever calling me back because when I called back the tech who answered looked at the case and said, oh we need you to do more testing with us. By this time I am getting a little aggravated as it has been three weeks now and nothing has changed but a big run around. Another forty five minutes of testing with the tech and he tells me it is the TV, no kidding. The tech told me the service center would call me to make an appointment as the one board inside the TV needs to be replaced. The next day the service company called and set up the appointment which would be in three days. The service company came out and asked me what the issue was with the TV, am I missing something here? He had the new board with him that he needed to replace. Well, after about fifteen minutes of the tech working on my TV he calls me in the room. He broke all the ribbon connections on the back of the TV when he took the back cover off. He said he has to order a new screen and new mother board as he broke the one in the TV. You have got to be kidding me. So now this "new" TV needs a new screen, new mother board plus the board he brought with him that Samsung determined was the issue. The only thing they will not be replacing on this "new" TV is the plastic housing and one other same circuit board in the TV. So now I have no TV at all, still waiting for them to call me back when they expect the parts and can come out. And there is no guarantee that when they get done everything will work and who knows for how long. Worst customer service and repair center ever.

Exactly what I was looking for in a TV

There isn't really a lot to say about a TV, as in essence it is just a collection of pixels that display content you connect to it. So this review will be rather brief. We decided to upgrade to a 4K TV this holiday season, and ultimately decided on this model after viewing the various models on display at our local Best Buy. Seeing the models actually showing content is CRITICAL when picking the model you want, as that is something a website just can't really show. This model looked great on the showroom floor, and had a reasonable price. Best Buy shipped it straight to our door using a "white glove" service -- meaning the gentlemen who delivered it were capable of setting it up as well (for a fee, of course). The delivery service also allowed me to pick the time and day of the delivery, which was very nice. The TV itself is performing at home as flawlessly as it did on the showroom. It came with everything I needed to mount it on a "Vesa" wall-mount (offsets, and instructions -- you have to supply your own wall-mount). It wasn't the lightest TV I have ever hoisted up on a wall-mount, but it was lighter than our previous one. Setup was easy, and started automatically as soon as I turned it on. Only sticking point was the internet connection screen. I don't allow devices in my home access to the internet except for computers and my Roku -- but the TV's internet connection screen on the setup wizard makes it seem like you MUST connect it to the internet (since it is a "smart" TV after all). HOWEVER, all you have to do is press "right" on the directional pad of your remote, and a window will pop-up asking if you want to skip setting up the internet, and you can move on. The screen in NO WAY makes it obvious that you can refuse to connect it to the internet, but it IS possible (btw same problem with our Samsung UBD-M7500/ZA disc player as well, and same solution). The controller that comes with the TV is very simple, and has a lot less "noise" than the controllers that came with prior generation TVs (same for the Samsung UBD-M7500/ZA 4K disc player we got, much simplified, and much appreciated). Basically it just has buttons for the things you would ever actually do with your remote. Everything else is in the on-screen settings menu you can pull up if you want. Final verdict: -screen looks beautiful -controller is great -setup was easy -are not REQUIRED to connect it to the internet if you don't want to -good value -easy to wall-mount All said and done, I have no complaints. 5 stars ;)

Lasted 2 Months - Broke Just Before Super Bowl

Purchased on Nov 18th and it broke on Jan 20th. The power began turning on and off by itself. I referenced Samsung's website and followed all troubleshooting steps. Powercycling, removing and replacing all inputs. I used Samsung chat to set up a service appointment but this took at least an hour. The online service support form is very poor and uses unsecure javascript. I would not use it unless you really had to. Once I completed the service request, I was contacted by Best Buy that a technican would make an appointment to examine the TV, in-home. This never happened, instead I received a call from Geek Squad telling me to go through all of the same troubleshooting steps that I did with Samsung. So, they wasted another week. Now, they are again promising to send a technician but not until another week. So I will have been without a TV for 3 weeks from point of defect. Mind you, the TV has a 1 year parts and labor warranty. This has been a humiliating and degrading experience. I can't say that all Samsung TVs are this poorly made but I can tell you that the brand name Samsung holds very little value in my opinion. There are so many flat panel manufactuers out there that have reasonable support and reasonable access to repair. Once fixed, I'll donate this TV to my church and buy something with more value and quality. To add insult to injury, the technican scheduled from Best Buy won't arrive UNTIL after the Super Bowl, the first time LA has had a team there for a long time. Thanks Samsung.

I really loved this tv the first year. After that it began to update, very often, 3 times in one week. No problem, it takes about 10 minutes so no big deal. After about a year the updates began to 'dump' the sites I was using and I would have to sign in all over again. So, 10 minutes for the updates (which happen regularly now, 3-10 times per month), and another 10 minutes to get Netflix (or Hulu or Amazon) re-loaded. Now I have to call Samsung, about once every 6 weeks and spend 20 minutes on hold, and then 20 to 60 minutes while they do a remote management and I unplug the tv and whatever else they need me to do... I am on the phone right now while I am typing. The agent has just said that I should hang up and call my internet service provider because they were blocking netflix. I told him he needs to fix it, clearly it is a Samsung problem and not an ISP problem so he's trying something else. After all, it worked before the TV updated itself, and I can get it on all of my other devices. So he says there is nothing they can do, I ask to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor says I need a new motherboard, to take the tv to be repaired. Turns out I get Netflix to help me and it’s all good (until the next update, which should be at least a week). While the samsung support staff seems to try hard, I haven’t really enjoyed making new phone friends every 6-8 weeks just so I can watch Grace and Frankie. WORST TV EVER. I cannot wait until it breaks permanently so that I can buy a new one JUST NOT A SAMSUNG.

Overall I am happy with the TV. Easy to set up, no issues with resolution, etc. However there is one BIG issue that is pretty annoying and important for a buyer of this tv/manufacturer to note. Right out of the box, the tv's memory space is 75% full. That is from all of the pre-installed apps (ie. Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc) which you CANNOT uninstall. Ok, that's fine for several of the apps like Netflix that most folks may use. However there are apps like Fandango and some others which I will never use. These cannot be removed. That leaves you with only 25% space on the tv to install your own app channels. Pretty crappy in my opinion. Basically you'll pay $500 and only be allowed to modify 25% of the space of the overall memory for what you want instead of what Samsung thinks you should want. Therefore you may want to research what apps come pre-installed on this tv to see if you use most of them or if you are the person who wants to control more of what is on the tv, in which case you may want to go with another tv model/manufacturer. So initially I'd give the tv five stars but because of this issue which Samsung controls even though I spent my $$$ on it, I am going to rate it a 3 - average.

Christmas gift 12/19/18 , I used it about 12 times, went away for the holidays, vacation, returned 2/10, the screen went bad when I turned it on. I'm the sole user, so I know it wasn't damaged. It had some little issues, when I bought it before vacation, but when I returned It had lines all through it and a black patch. I called Best Buy mgr. and I was treated poorly, said not our problem b/c it had to be returned two weeks prior (30 days), and I did not buy the BB service plan. I called Samsung , based on phone explanation & photo, said it was due to interior damage, so they wouldn't send out anyone to verify. They brushed me off and refused any responsibility for this faulty and poorly constructed TV lasting less then 2 months. With the experience that I've had with this TV and my Samsung appliances and the Samsung staff, I will never purchase anything from Samsung again. Neither Samsung nor Best Buy will stand behind this inferior TV. I've never written a review prior to this, but it's wrong to sell a product that doesn't last 2 months and not stand behind it. I've bought many computers, TVs, appliances, stereos, office furnishings, supplies and more from Best Buy, but my business will go elsewhere, where customers are treated with respect and products are reliable.

We bought this TV for a den, and it is the worst Samsung TV we’ve ever bought. At first, sound and picture are great! Then randomly the TV will switch the source or something like that on its own - it BLASTS our eardrums with static, the TV picture is snow, and you can’t do anything about it, the remote is useless when this happens. We can’t turn off the tv, check the source, change the channel, lower the volume or anything. Then it’ll go to the Samsung SmartTV logo/startup screen and the channel/show you were watching comes back on. It’s like the TV is possessed or it has a mind of its own. We’ve removed every connection but the HDMI DirecTV box and the Samsung sound bar/woofer (connected by optic cable). Anynet is off, We’ve tried everything! We are open to suggestions to remedy this. Otherwise, we’ve got a very expensive lemon.

Have always loved Samsung, never ever had any issues.....I have always had Samsung phones, TV's, DVD players, Bluray players. I have a Plasma that is almost 10yrs old and still using it with a great picture. This TV's picture was excellent to begin with. Now 4 days after the 30day return policy (BestBuy Elite Member) the top 1/4 of my screen has gone out (See picture). I would not even think this would happen from a Top brand company who has been around the block for years would make bad quality like this. I choose Samsung over a TV that was $200 cheaper due to the reputation and quality product......for now on I will think twice and extra hard before buying a Samsung product. Not happy one bit that I need to go through a lengthy process now through Samsung isntead of BB, specially after all the money I spend at BB over the years!

This TV replaced a Sony 36 XRB tube set that I bought new back in 1998 that finally crapped out on me. The XRB ran at 1080i resolution and really an outstanding picture for the day. Really the best tube set ever, but I was very appreciative that BB took the old 300 pounder away for only $20. (I think that whole side of the house rose 1/2" when they dragged it out.) The picture on the this 55" set is almost 4 times larger than the old one and it's crystal clear. I've had great luck with my dual Samsung monitors on my computer so I was leaning more toward Samsung than the other brands. The only negatives are that it doesn't come with a component input, (but I only have a single device that uses component anyway), and you'll need to get a sound bar, it's sound output is kind of weak. Though it may be the stations themselves; TBS seems to be the worst, sound on Ad's way too loud and movie sound way too soft. Do have it running though my 7.2 receiver, but it's nice not to have to have that running all the time. The Samsung found my network right away and the interface is pretty easy. I downloaded the apps for both my phone and tablet and they work great. Highly recommended.

We needed to buy a new TV in this size to fit in a built spot in our new house. Having already laid out quite a bit of money on a new QLED in our family room and setting up our theater room, money was tight when making this choice. We were hoping our existing TV was going to fit. At under $500 for a 55" 4k HDR TV it's hard to say anything bad about this TV. I feel it's necessary to grade this TV on what it is, and not what it isn't. I don't think it's fair to knock it for not having the features of the more expensive models. It's like complaining that a cheap car doesn't drive like an expensive one. The picture quality satisfies my needs, though it is not as good as my QLED. That should be expected. The SMART HUB is great and if you're a cord cutter you'll appreciate the amount of apps offered and the layout. However, my knock of one star has to do with the quality of the wifi/ethernet speed. It is MUCH slower than my Apple TV. Now, I understand this may not be fair as the Apple TV alone is a 3rd of this price of this TV. However, I have them both hardwired to the same network and get 800 Mbps on my Apple TV and about 35 Mbps from this TV on my fiber network. Having said that, it s still a solid TV for the money with a good picture and much better than expected audio (once I changed the settings).

The picture is UHD goodness! Size and brightness works well for our viewing area. I think it's a general 4K thing but movement seems much more fluid relative to HD-1080p and takes a little bit to get used to. One month in now and it still strikes me sometimes when watching action sequences and intros. We use it for streaming 4K movies primarily and have tried both the LAN and wifi without noticing a lot of difference between the two. Remote control and switching of source audio/video using the TV control via ARC-HDMI works the same as it did with the previous television despite our using an older surround receiver. My only complaint - with a cost of one star, is due to the flakiness of one of the Samsung hub streaming applications. While watching two different (rented $) movies, on separate occasions $$, the app decided to crash and reboot the set. Then, on reconnect, act up in different ways with varying short periods of buffering, viewing or crashing again. Using the other applications and an external Android tv box resolved that.

I am not a gamer, sports fanatic or a committed movie watcher. I just needed something that was acceptable to look at in the evening time in a larger family room. I also wanted something that was compatible with all my other Samsung devices. I learned a lesson the hard way previously, that often time sound bars are properly matched with their like branded tvs, so I already had a sound bar ready. My last tv was a different brand and the same size but it needed to be moved to another room but had a gorgeous picture with lots of variables to set as far as picture and sound. This Samsung does not have many different ways to set picture and sound to meet your conditions although I will state that the picture quality is very good with general tv watching. It is wall mounted but lucky we saved all the different screws from the wall mounting kit of 3 years ago as the screws were different then the last tv. The sound needs a sound bar...it is bad and even worse then my other branded tv which hung there before. At least with that tv I could adjust many variables to get it to be okay. Setup could have not been more easy and was accomplished via my Samsung phone in about 5 minutes. It is definitely a "plug and play" deal if you have a Samsung tablet or phone. Without speaking to longevity it was worth the sale price I paid for it during the holiday season.

I purchased this as well as a sound bar to upgrade an older Panasonic plasma set. My main reason from choosing this panel was the 46” 6300 panel that I purchased for the bedroom a few years ago. That panel has been amazing, the picture is incredible for an HD panel, it offered lots of adjustment and came with the smart remote which works very well. I assumed moving to a 7 series panel would be at least a lateral move, boy was I wrong. I will admit that I should have reviewed the specs more closely and tried to get a better feel for the panel at the store. During set up everything seemed ok, that is until I started to tweak the setting... when exiting the setting it drops out to the smart hub menu and you have to hit exit multiple times to close it. Unfortunately my cable remote can’t exit from the smart hub so it’s just stuck without using multiple remotes. The picture is decent, but with the backlight maxed out and brightness all the way up it’s an extremely dark panel and has very muddy details. Finally with hdmi input/outputs for all sources it will not stay on the surround setting in the audio menu, you can watch it change back as you are changing channels or surfing the menus on the Xbox. The sound quality with the surround on is in all ways superior with the 5.1 sound bar... I am seriously considering returning the panel and moving to the 8000 series panel but with all the negative reviews about popping and failures I’m at a loss.

I had high hopes with purchasing this Samsung TV, but the first thing I noticed was the enormous remote that came with it that is not user friendly by any means. I ignored it and was eager to test out the new TV. I do most of my television viewing through either Netflix, DirectTV Now or any other streaming service and I thought the "Smart" features that come with this TV would be convenient and make life easy like my TCL. I was wrong by a mile. When trying to access different streaming platforms i noticed my memory on the TV was already at 75% and there was nothing I could do about it, Samsung does not allow you to delete the services they install on their TV's. I connected the TV via Ethernet as I always have and instantly started having problems, it would constantly buffer or lose connection. Trying to watch a football game was ridiculous, almost to the point to where it wasn't worth it between the constant buffering and loosing connection and the poor true motion refresh technology I finally had enough and returned this TV after about 3 weeks. Very dissatisfied.

Plagued by flickering during PS4 gaming

This TV was a huge disappointment, because the picture was often beautiful despite severe issues on my HDMI 1 input. After about a week of flawless PS4 gaming on that input, suddenly I began to get intermittent flickering and green artifacts during some of my games. Moved the PS4 to a different monitor and those games worked fine on it. Fortunately, I was still under 2 weeks of ownership, so returned the 7100 for a full refund. After a very poor recent experience briefly owning a Samsung 65" NU8000 and seeing how bad it was with local dimming (brightness going way up on the whole screen with appearance of subtitles and back down again when they went off), it seems Samsung's quality control has really gone down in the last few years. This TV scored very poorly for local dimming in critic reviews. Things used to be different. My parents have a Samsung they got several years ago and it's never had a problem. My old Samsung 23" monitor from 10 years ago is still going strong. A real shame that these latest UHD's are such a letdown. As a result, I'm still trying to get a working 4K TV without major issues. My next TV most definitely will NOT be a Samsung.

In a word, "WOW!" I keep saying that. everytime I use it. It's a dream to use. Samsung has a good feel for where everything should go and how everything SHOULD run. Remarkable picture quality that isn't that "TOO REAL" hyper sharp awfulness that is all over walls these days. I love the interface and how it runs, it makes so much sense to operate. Even the tasty touches at power on and off. ( get one, you'll understand... COOL) What doesn't make sense is the omission of the four NECESSARY M8 x 1.25 x 45mm bolts that are essential to mounting the TV on a wall or stand! WTH!? Come on!! Include the four bolts Samsung! It took an additional trip to Home Depot, (Lowe's didn't have 'em) and a lot of cussing about them not being in the box, to get it mounted and ready for viewing. once done though. YES! Otherwise this is a beautiful product and I would be happy to recommend it to anyone. With the one caveat about the mounting hardware.

When asked to setup a Samsung acct, its not required, just click Skip in upper right corner. + Easy to navigate menus and tweak things. HDMI1,2,3 inputs can be renamed to CableBox, Roku, BluRay, etc CONS - Motion smoothing is on by default, I hate that soap opera effect it causes. Easy enough to turn it off: Home>Picture>Expert Settings>Auto Motion Plus set to OFF. - Audio output is fiber optic only. No bluetooth, no analog RCA jacks. Had to buy a fiber optic to RCA adapter ($13 on Amazon) to connect my old Sennheiser headphones. - No Bixby on the remote on this model. - No 5GHZ 802.11ac wireless, only 2.4Ghz 802.11g/n Still very happy with this TV, no dead pixels, hooray!

I purchased this television at a memorial day sale and have been pretty happy with it so far. The picture, brightness, and contrast are pretty decent and the sound has improved a lot over previous Samsung models. I have not watched any UHD content, but the regular HD movies and television shows all are acceptable. The internet television works great and the menus are easy to navigate. If you were going to use this as a television for the family room, I would definetely consider the Q models over the 7 series for the best viewing experience. But for a bedroom or family room, this television will work nicely.

We are very pleased with this television set, which I purchased for my husband for Christmas. The picture is great for everything we have watched - very clear and crisp. My husband loves it for sports, my son for video games and I for Hallmark Christmas movies! The set was easy to assemble and is easy to operate. The only reason I gave this set 4 stars instead of 5 is that the sound quality is poor. The sales associate warned me about this shortcoming though, so I also purchased a Samsung - 2.0-Channel Soundbar with Digital Amplifier, which is great! The only other shortcoming I am aware of is that there is a glare on the screen during daylight viewing from the windows. That is not an issue in the room we have it in though, as we have shutters over the windows which can be adjusted. Just an fyi for those who may not have the ability to control daylight as easily as we do. Overall, we are very happy and satisfied with this purchase!

I brought this tv and i haven't been disappointed with it. The resolution is spot on and beautiful. Is a smart tv with wifi and ethernet port what i find dissatisfied is the wifi as it only connect to a 2.4ghz and not to 5ghz and it sometimes does buffering if it watch on 4k videos on wifi connection. It can be remedy with ethernet connection. It includes numerous app but most important app are included such as Netflix, hulu,Amazon prime video, and youtube. It has the Xfinity app so say goodbye to rental fee from those box they gave you you can just use the app to watch live tv from Xfinity platforms.
