Currently, as I am writing this, there is about a $1000 difference between this TV and the UN65ES8000. As for your concern about 3D, go ahead and get the TV with 3D. You are not paying extra for it, plus it gives you a much better picture than a non-3D TV. The differences in pricing come from feature sets like contrast ratio, refresh rates, and Internet.
