With an optical cable running (which is compatible as long as both have a place to plug it in) from the tv to the sound bar, all audio will play through the soundbar when it's turned on, when off all audio will play through the tv. As for the audio settings you have to to go to the tv menu while the soundbar is turned on and go to the audio settings.

There are two audio systems in the configuration, and that compounds the explanation. You may want to have a Geek Squad Agent connect your audio system for you - and while it may be an additional cost, it would be worth it so that he or she can walk you through the set-up and help you choose the audio system that you prefer. We appreciate your support of Samsung products, but we just don't have a clear understanding of which audio system you intend to use - or how you intend to implement a DTS/5.1 signal. --Mr.Samsung
