What does "local dimming" mean, and how is it done? null

There is a light sensor on the front of the TV, when the room gets darker or brighter the TV will dim or brighten to match. There is a feature to turn it off or limit the amount of dimming or brightening to suit your personal taste.

If you are watching tv in the light the tv stays consistent with light in the room. If you turn that light off....the screen dims to a comfortable viewing level. I like it. You notice when it does it. But not while you are watching.
