1) You can program the Samsung remote to control other devices, to include cable receivers. 2) Yes, you can locate the OneConnect box in wall, provided it has sufficient room for ventilation. There is a YouTube video of a professional installing the OneConnect Box inside the wall.

I paired it with both remotes because you can. 2) Yes, you can place the Samsung ConnectOne box behind a wall. This is my setup at home. You will have to run the connect one cable via a hole in the wall. That one cable will pass through cable, blu ray, video game console connections.
