eARC should be for your audio device. I did not read anywhere in the docs that you should use separate cables for 4k and 8k. That makes no sense. I use this as a display for my 3080 GPU. HDMI 2.1 from the GPU to the display and I get 8k@60hz or 4k@120hz over the same cable.
