Hi WaterHose, We appreciate your question about the water inlet hose for this Samsung dryer and whether the dryer will work without the water inlet hose connected to it. It is recommended to have the water inlet hose connected to a water source and the dryer to take full advantage of what you have or may have paid for this Samsung dryer. If a water hose is not connected to this dryer, all features except those which require water will function. We suggest getting a dryer that does not have a Steam Sanitize feature so you need not connect the dryer to a water source.
