• Yes, your PC has a 2.5" drive, I also checked comparability for the exact model HP under crucial's website who makes SSD's the exact same size as the 850 Evo. Same form factor: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-dv4-2170us/CT6687932

• What do you mean by "traditional"? It's a 2.5" form factor which is "traditional" for laptops. It is not a 3.5" form factor which is "traditional" for desktops.
