David, I'd check out the HP Support website, or you can also check out Crucial.com. There, you can put in the exact model number of your HP Omen, or download their scanner and it will tell you all of the RAM and SSD upgrades that your computer supports. Obviously, this will only tell you for Crucial brand products, but if it shows that you can upgrade to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and storage to a P-Series 2TB NVMe drive, then you can also look for those products in other brands. I use Crucial Scanner to check for upgrades for most of my computers! Super handy! After you download and run the scanner, click on Storage to see drives your computer supports. If there are any NVMe options in the product list, then compare the specs/requirements to the Samsung 980 Pro. If they are both PCIe NVMe (Gen 3 or 4) then you are most likely good to go! Best of luck! https://www.crucial.com/store/systemscanner
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The HP Omen specs indicate it uses an NVMe M.2 SSD. WIth that being said, it should work with no problems. I have a Lenovo Flex 5-1470. The Samsung 980 Pro worked fine, but I wasn't able to take advantage of the full Samsung Magician software features until I replaced the built in Intel RST SSD driver for a Windows Default driver and change the BIOS setting to AHCI from the Intel RST setting. Please keep in mind, that you should have a good backup in case you need to revert to your original settings. The first time I tried it, everything worked flawlessly. The second time ( I had unexpected software issues for some new software unrelated to this product). That one didn't go as nicely, but fortunately, I had a backup file. So, after all that jargon, yes it worked for me and I'm taking full advantage of Samsung Magician with Samsung 980 Pro 1TB SSD. It's very fast.
