- Answer Either can be used but they do provide a soap dispenser that only uses liquid. If you want to use the automated features it would be your only option. If thats not important to you either is fine in this machine.

- Answer I would only put one main scent in the auto dispencer. Then when wanting to switch it up you could manually put in that scent and just turn off the dispenser for that load.
