The bottom element is below the bottom of the oven. Since the bottom element is covered, they have a steam option. You can pour tap water in the bottom of the oven to Steam Clean it when it is not extremely dirty. The bottom oven can be used as Conventional or Convection. The Buttons with the fan next to them are convection. The top oven is Convection only. The whole oven without the partition may be used as Conventional or Convection.

Please try again later.Hi Arlene, The lower oven in the NE59J7850WS has a hidden bake element under the oven floor and a third heating element behind the fan which enables the True Convection feature.
