You're paying for a premium build quality which include: 4K UHD display (the screen technology that Samsung uses in their high-end 4K TV's), built-in stylus, aluminum build, 10th gen i5 processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and the fact that this Chromebook will be one of the many Chromebooks coming out later this year that will get software support from Google for 8 years, compared to the previous 5 year update policy. For a Chromebook, this is heck of a lot you're getting in a laptop running Chrome OS. If you were to compare all these specs running on a Windows laptop, you would for sure be paying $1,600 - $2,000.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Chromebooks typically come in three levels. Best Buy calls the highest level “premium”. While entry level models—the ones most people are used to seeing—can be found for $100-200, the highest spec machines have hardware comparable to Macs & Windows PCs running the latest intel i5 and even i7 processors. Desktop versions of these processors will run $200-400+ for the chip alone. Add an SSD hard drive, which entry level models exclude, and you can see how rapidly the prices can increase. While ChromeOS can run on even the most basic machine, you can also run it on something more capable. Some people may appreciate a touchscreen, or a faster processor, faster memory, HDD storage, or better graphics, etc., and they will be willing to pay for it. Some people will even want to unlock the features of the Linux OS that underlies all ChromeOS using better hardware than is typically found on entry level Chromebooks.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is no reason why this costs so much. No Chromebook should cost more than 600.
