• Yes, you can get Geek Squad protection for this model since I purchased it when I got mine. There are a few different levels of protection, I got full damage protection and theft protection for $10.99 per month, which is quite reasonable.

• Don't think you need them. I went to AT&T they inserted my sim card and sd card for me no charge. If you are coming from a Samsung to this phone t let the phones do the transfer for you using smart switch. Phones do everything. Very easy. My RoboForm password app came over with all passwords in tact. I was up and running in about 1 and 1/2 hours. I am no expert
