Yes I believe it is possible to pay for a year. Sprint is doing away with the two year plans and you can change phones or plans after one year now, if that helps. How much you pay depends on how many more payments you have left on your current phone or plan. If you want to upgrade now, you have to pay whatever is left on your old plan.

I'm doing the lease- I know you have to pay off a certain percentage of the phone- I would talk to the people at best buy rather than Sprint- Best buy has better deals on the phone and can help you get the best options for your situation
