    Samsung Quality

This is now my 4th Samsung phone. It has the quality that I have come to expect from Samsung and quality is why I am a loyal fan. Like any android, it is user friendly and easy to personalize the way you want. The cameras are great as always. The selfie camera has some fun filters comparable to Snapchat. I did opt for the s8+ versus the regular s8 because I prefer a large screen. Especially since I was upgrading from a Note 5. Overall, this is a great phone. I only have a few things I am not thrilled about. As always, there is a lot of bloatware and only some of it can be removed. You can disable, but not uninstall a lot of it. Result is that it takes up space. Luckily, unlike the Note 5, you can add an sd card to help with space issues. I am glad they listened to the customers about the sd slot being absent from the note. I get frustrated with the curved screen sometimes. If you aren't careful when swiping to another screen, you end up activating the side bar. I think they missed the mark with the fingerprint sensor. They have placed it to the left (while looking at the front of the phone) of the camera. This makes it awkward to get the placement right since your hand is at an angle while holding the phone one handed. I think a left handed person would have an even harder time with it. I rarely use it because of this. I hope they put it back on the front in the future. Lastly, Bixby. The Samsung answer to Apple's Siri. The button to activate Bixby is on the the left edge, right below the volume buttons. more often than not, I would hit Bixby every time I pulled my phone out of my pocket or tried to adjust the volume. Before I threw the phone in frustration, I googled and found a way to deactivate the button so now when I hit it, it doesn't do anything. I advise doing that if you don't plan on using Bixby. If you do want to use it....and I admit that it does have some cool features...I guess you will just have to work around the unintentional opening of it. All.The.Time. All in all, I still love the phone in spite of the few issues I have with it.

Better than the s6 edge plus but not in all ways

Better than the s6 edge plus but not in all ways. Bixby is ok but haven't used it enough to tell for sure. Like that it is supposed to be water resistant or proof but haven't tried it yet. My biggest complaint is that they moved the fingerprint scanner to the back by the camera which can't be used if you have the OtterBox and use the holster as much as I do. I used to be able to unlock my phone while driving by placing my finger on the front now I have to pick up my phone and hope I don't have a glare on my glasses to look into the iris scanner which is not as safe and brings me too the next issue. The iris scanner is great but sucks if you wear glasses and have a glare because it won't work until you get it just right or lift your glasses up which can be a hassle especially when driving. Next issue is the voice unlock as Ok Google seems to not work consistently enough to be useful at least for me I haven't tried the Bixby yet but had problems trying to set it up, I got to the 4th or 5th saying Hi Bixby and it wouldn't recognize my voice anymore but did the sentences later and it took them on the first try so not sure what the deal is. Also the charging port changed which sucks but it does come with a couple of adapters one of which I need to put on my old car charger, luckily I had my old wireless charger to use in the bedroom so i can use the one that came with the phone in the den. All around good phone but switched to Sprint from Verizon to get a $400 gift card and had issues, but finally got it, and to get lower monthly payments, and while it is cheaper the 4g is definitely not as good as Verizon, it is more like dial up or DSL where Verizon is like high speed cable which is way faster than DSL. Not a phone issue i know but figured I'd let people know. Going to probably switch back to Verizon even though I dislike them after the 18 months I have with Sprint because unlimited data isn't that great when the webpage you want won't load, luckily haven't had many issues with Pandora and none with map navigation and hopefully won't. Anyway, I like the phone other than the above issues everything else seems faster or better but still learning everything it can do.

Blows all other phones out of the water

I pre ordered this phone and I have had it since the launch date. Wanted to give it enough time before I left a review. I have owned a galaxy s3,s5,s6 edge and an iphone 6s. But none of those even come close to the galaxy s8+. This is truly an incredible phone worth every penny. I have never used a phone with battery life as outstanding as this one. And after 4 months the battery life has not declined. At all. I am a college student so all-day battery is a must have. I leave for class at 7am and finish off the day at 11pm with about 30% battery left with moderate to heavy usage. I text, snapchat, listen to music, watch YouTube videos and this phone barely drops battery at all. I go all day without plugging it in once. I wireless charge it every night. The original charger is still in the box.i haven't taken it out because I never need it. The operating system is fast and smooth. The camera is just incredible, both the front and the rear.If you have never used this camera, you really have to check it out. The fingerprint scanner is fine,I have never had a problem with it. Iris scanning and facial recognition is also a nice feature. I have nothing but good things to say about this phone.Samsung has really given me the experience I had hoped for when buying a phone. The bottom line is, whatever phone you currently have,iPhone or Android, you need to try out this phone. You wont be disappointed.I highly recommend to anyone

    Incredible Phone

I upgraded my phone to this one from an iPhone 6 Plus 64gb and I have to say, it is incredible. Other than a brief stint with an iPhone 5 a few years ago I had only had Android devices. I had and EVO 4g, Galaxy S3, and a Note 4. There are some things that in my opinion Apple just does better. I think iMessage is definitely one of them and also the way apps just work on the iPhone. My 6 Plus was 2+ years old and still works like I bought it yesterday. With that being said.. this phone is head and shoulders above that phone. The camera and video quality is unbelievable, the display is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Everything is so crisp and clear. Everything is zippy on this phone and nothing lags at all. The only complaint I have, and it's not really a complaint persay is that because of the weird aspect ratio, you have to go into settings and tell the phone to use full screen in most apps. Not a big deal, but it is a setting you have to mess with each time you install a new app. The other "gripe" I have with this phone is that it doesn't ship in full QHD from the factory, that's another setting you have to change. Again, not a big deal but let's face it, the screen was one of the selling points if this phone and I know I personally want it set to the highest resolution possible and get the most out of my phone from the getgo. I'm not sure about the Pixel 2, iPhone 8 (or Edition) as they're calling it, or the Note 8, but this phone hands down will be one of the best, if not THE best this year. I love this phone so much. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I pre-ordered this phone and was very anxious to get it. When I got it, I wasn't disappointed. The look, shape and feel was beautiful. The camera takes excellent pictures that are very accurate and true to life. Even better than my old LG G4 (which took great pictures!). The phone's response is very smooth and fast. Although, I did notice a little lag when I put on a screen protector. Replaced it with a thinner protector and everything's fine. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because of all the "junk" included in the phone. 32 of the 64 gigs is used for the operating system and a ton of unwanted applications. Most of which cannot be uninstalled. I spend the first day turning off notification switches. I was getting notifications and Ads from everywhere. Very annoying. Overall, except for the unwanted applications, it's an excellent phone.

    Not Impressed

I can say that I am not overly impressed with this phone. I picked it up as a 2nd line to use for my business line. Best Buy screwed up the phone number and gave me the wrong area code, I have been into multiple stores to get this correct but was then finally pointed to go online to my carriers website to change it. I did that and now my phone can't send multi media messages!!! The phone is still tied to the old number that Best Buy set it up on but when talking with my carrier everything shows that it is the new number but the phone says the old number. Did a factory reset and still the same thing. The phone is cool but I'm just not impressed by it. The fingerprint scanner is in the dumbest location!!! on the back in an awkward spot for you to place your finger on and when using the Samsung Pay, I just turned off the fingerprint passcode and set up a number passcode so it made things easier. It's OK Samsung, just use what Apple did with theirs or make the screen scan your finger. You don't have to do something different "just because you want to be different." If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

My last phone was the Note 7 so I was a little skeptical about Samsung at first but I thought to myself, they will do everything possible to put out a safe phone w/ all the goodies this time around. I most say they did not disappoint, the design alone is the best I ever touched in a cell phone. A lot of time, thought and money was put into the engineering of this phone. For such a large beautiful screen it feels smaller than any 5.5+ phone out on the market. Very fast phone, camera is top of the line, headphones are excellent, transferring files from the old phone to the S8+ was simple and fast. I don't even have a problem with the location of the fingerprint reader and I have small hands and short fingers. This phone is definitely the best out right now.

    Great Phone - Some drawbacks

This is the first time that I have moved into a Android phone from the Apple world. I bought it to sync with the Gear 360 camera's etc, which it does quite well. I love the camera, extra storage (SD), and the infinity screen is pretty cool. The drawbacks: The "always on" screen does not show a text message preview when a text arrives. This may be a new android user not knowing how to make that happen, but it is certainly not intuitive. This means you have to unlock your phone to see texts, rather than a cursory glance to measure importance. The early reviews were correct that the fingerprint reader's location (Next tot he camera) is not a sure shot and I have gotten my fingerprints all over the camera lens more than a few times. I will end by saying that this phone is beautiful, feels good in the hand and in the pocket (size), it delivers on all of the promises. Paired with the new Gear VR is a huge leap forward from the Galaxy S7 with the original Gear VR.
