It will be ready to use! You can bring your old device to a Verizon store and have all of your Contacts, messages and all data transferred to your new Samsung for no extra charge.

activation fee is added to your monthly bill. They do everything for you as well other fees in one payment . You walk out of there with a new phone and it's ready to use.
