No, you can totally do this yourself and Sumsung makes it super easy with their Switch app. It's really a fantastic app. Go check it out on the play store.

You will need to go to the store to have a new SIM card installed. Or you can get a SIM card from your cell provider (via mail) And you can call for help with installing if you don't want to go in person. You can sync all of the information from your old phone. In most cases you can keep your same phone number.
