Sounds like a battery issue

Your problem might be the battery, the connector or the charger block. I would suggest using a different charger block and cable to determine if the problem is with the cable or charger block. If you don't have a charger & cable for another Android device such as an Android phone I'm sure you can find a friend who has an Android tablet of phone.
