Not waterproof, per se, but it is water-resistant to 164 feet. There is also a mode you can set from the watch itself that can help protect it if you plan on going swimming, and later eject any water from the system. Over time, as with any piece of equipment, the more wear and tear, the more likely water will damage it.

I have worn the watch in the shower with the "water lock" in settings to, "prevent accidental actions." It is not a diving watch but can be used while swimming or showering.
