• Yes you can play music directly from the Gear Sport without the phone being nearby.

• According to the instructions you can if you have Spotify Premium and download a playlist from your phone to your watch but the playlist has to be put on the watch first.

• Yes but you need to use an app called Song Shift. It moves your Spotify music and playlists to apple for free. As of November Spotify didn't have their own watch app.

• The watch is only control of what ever is playing on the phone. I can blue tooth to a outdoor speaker 50 ft away from the phone and control it with the watch.
