No. If you have 802.11b, 802.11a, or 802.11n ...or the latest AC standard, the camera is capable of connecting to wifi on either 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands, so if you have wifi, you are covered, so long as your camera is within range of your wifi signal.

After I downloaded the App, the phone connected through my home Wifi. I just had to enter in the password like with any other device. I highly recommend this camera. It works well in high or low light and the motion sensor is spot on.
