You can turn your notifications on so that you hear your phone. I believe this would be the case with any system. I get a text, and a push notification directly from the app. Far from useless.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The app alarm would depend on whether your phone allows setting that per the particular app. The keypad for arming/disarming just uses a PIN, not any other type of identification. However, you can set up multiple PIN's with some limitations, such as when we were selling our house, we set a special PIN for realtors to use for only disarming/arming, but no other function access such as changing PIN's. That limited PIN can have a unique identifier to be included in your phone app alert when it is used, so you would see something like "Realtor" in the alert, and whether they were arming or disarming the system, if you set up the PIN that way.

Unfortunately you cant set separate sounds for the Alarm and regular SmartThings alerts. You can also use the "ADT Notifications" smart app to text a phone number when the alarm is triggered. Also I have not found any way to have the alarm alerts tell you what user/code disarmed the system. The only thing you get it "system disarmed". Samsung and ADT need to fix this!!
